Tutorial: Rainponcho from "My Froggy Stuff" (english)

Hi blogreaders,

Its Cleo today with a surprise blogpost.
One of our facebook friends wanted us to try out how to make a doll poncho after a Youtube Video of

You find the poncho video here:

This facebook friend is German, so, as usually when I do tutorials, I also translate it into german later so its easier for her to try it out herself.

So I went to Clawdeen and told her about the project and she was that enthusiastic that she wanted to start it at once. We just needed someone to wear the poncho, so we brainstormed a bit and we found the perfect "victim":

Frankie Stein!
Frankie is always so enthuse over everything... also, since she is full of electricity, she is the perfect ghoul that needs waterproof fashion. We asked her if she wanted to be part of Clawdeens latest fashion project and she said yes immediatly!

But Clawdeen doesn't make "half things", she said, and so, when Frankie arrived, Clawdeen had already finished something to wear under the poncho, a nice but simple dark blue crochet dress.
If you want to make that one as well, have a look at our christmas dress tutorial.

And now Clawdeen was ready to start the poncho project.
Here is how it works:

You need:

- a plastic bag
- sticky tape
- scissors

We had good luck that we had a plastic bag that was mainly blue on one and mainly yellow on the other side. The yellow side was perfect for Frankie. Of course you can use every colour of your choice or perhaps patterns or what else you can get.
Clawdeen wanted the poncho to be just one colour, so she took the yellow side.

1.)
Cut out a rectangle from the bag. The small side should cover your dolls arms when outspread, the long side should have the double size.

2.)
Fold it in half over the long side.

3.)
Fold it in half once again, this time over the other side.

4. )
Make a cut-out like shown on the picture.
It must not be on the open side.

5.)
For the hood, cut out another rectangle that covers the head of your doll.

6.)
Fold that piece in a half over the long side again, but this time the left side is outside.
Then, tape one of the open sides.

7.)
Flip it inside out.

7.)
Begin to tape it to the hole of your poncho now.
This is a bit tricky.
To see better how it works, have a look at Froggys video.

8.)
Best is you begin taping at the back of your poncho to make sure your hood is where you want it to be.

9.)
Then we fixed the front corners.
After that we fixed the complete hood with little pieces of tape. First at the outside and then, to make it more waterproof, at the inside.

10.)
At the end, we also fixed the side of the poncho, beginnig a little bit under Frankies hands so the poncho fits better. Ready!

Here is the result!
Frankies brand new rain poncho from the front....

...and in the profile! It came out cuter then suspected.

Now Frankie is happy, and thats the end of todays blogspot.
Thanks Levin Bee for the inspiration to do this project
and
My Froggy Stuff
for showing us how to do it!

Goodbye,

xxx Cleo xxx
