A new friend, new clothes and more stuff

Friday, blogtime, here's Clawdeen again!

And there had been some fangtastic things to tell you during the last two weeks...

Last week I posted that tutorial for my dress in two languages. I am a little bit sad that I never get feedback for my posts, but at least I know there are some people watching all this stuff.

But enough mourning, there is nothing to mourn about...

Starting the news right now.

First of all: Yesterday, Thursday October 23rd, a new munster joined our crew here.

And here he is:

Welcome Neightan Rot who calls himself a Zombiecorn. Neightan is a hybrid monster, his father is a zombie and his mother an unicorn.

So, Neightan, is there anything about you we all should know?

Neightan Rot: "Well, I don't know. Most things are told in my bio, you can find it on the official MH pages. I am happy to be part of the crew here. 

I heard you make some nice clothes for your friends and really hope I get some as well, because at the moment what I wear is everything I got. 

Hm... what else? I am a healer, but I am also really clumsy. Later, I really want to be a psychologist or something like that. I want to heal inner blessings as well..."

Yeah, of course. We all have our blessings. and it seems you have alot of them.

Of course I will make clothes for you, as I do them for everybody here!

You forgot to tell though that you are one of the stars of the lastest MH boovie which came out last week on DVD and which tells parts of your story.

Our new boovie is called FREAKY FUSION, in Germany FATALE FUSION.

Its a thrilling story about Neightan and some other hybrid monsters named Bonita Femur, Avea Trotter and Sirena von Boo. Frankie plays a big part, as well as Ghoulia and some more of our crew including me!

You should see it!!!!

What else I didn't tell you yet....

Oh yes. Cleo had been in Cologne once again. This time she brought a shot from the Rhine Promenades. It seems she had fine weather there...

And now to new clothing for some of us. I am still busy with fall outfits and here I show you the latest:

These two pics show new fashion for Deuce. Its about time the mansters get some fall clothing as well. For Cleo's boyfriend I came up with sewn Khaki pants and a black shirt with the MH logo on it. I thought it was time for some different colours for some of us this fall...

Here is a group picture again, this time Lagoona, Frankie, Deuce, Cleo and Robecca show their fall fashion together. The outfit Frankie wears is not new, but she still likes it. She wore it in winter before, now its her fall fashion. That means I will come up with something new for her when it really gets cold outside.

But I have more outfits.

For example this one.

A crochet dress for my beast friend Draculaura in trendy yellow with a little bit of lurex pink in it.

Also, I have sewn some pink tights and a fitting scarf for her. I must tell you I like this outfit alot myself somehow, don't ask me why.

My sister Clawdeen got something new as well: A dark red, furry yarn trimmed crochet pullover and a red sewn skirt with a pattern. When I made the shots it was dark and so I tried it with a close-up as well and then photoshopped the pics later... well, I think you got the idea how it looks like.

Last but not least I made a stretchy dress for Scarah. It is brown which isn't her fave colour but I think it looks great on her. The pattern makes the retro-look this time, together with the boots. I really like it when she does those 1960ies model poses!

Well, that had been everything new for this week.

Next Friday, its Halloween. 

It would be so great if somebody of you would have tried out the pumpkin dress tutorial and sending a shot to me so it could be posted here.

I HAVE planned something you didn't expect, but its not really Halloween stuff.

But we'll see what I can come up with, one never knows.

I also did't forget about the promised Lagoona Special, that one is planned now for November.

Halloween Pumpkin-Dress Tutorial (English)

Clawdeen again. 

And I have something nice for you:

My latest Halloween-Pumpkin-dress! 

Do you like it?

I hope so... as Halloween-Special I want to show you how to make it yourself.

Please don't be angry if it doesn't work out at first try. 

This is my first try in doing a tutorial, and since english is not my mothers language, its even more difficult.

But I'll do my best to explain to you how it works so you can understand what I mean.

You don't need much knowledge for this, basic ideas in how to crochet and to sew are enough.

Calaminthe shows out how to do it.

And now we start

You need: 

- orange yarn. Calaminthe uses cheap acrylic yarn for Crochethook size 4 or smaller. 

- Hook Size 3,5 or 4

- a piece of black felt

- black sewing cotton

- sewing needle, bigger wool needle to sew up and scissors to cut the felt and the yarns.

Skills you need:

- crochet chains

- single crochet (basic crochet stitch)

- sewing up

First you crochet a row of loops (or chains), until you have 16 or 20. 

You have enough, if the chains fit around the widest part of your doll which are her hips.

As soon as you know how many loops you need, you close the row by stitching into the first loop again.

It should then look like this.

Now you can begin to crochet a row of single crochet.

It should look like this.

From now on you stitch twice into one loop and so you crochet 2 basic single crochet stitches  per chain.

I just stitch in the middle of the loops, then the dress will be more elastic.

Here is how the first finished crochet stitch should look like.

And it should look like that after you finihed the second row.

Go on like this, always stiching 2 times per loop. 

After another row the whole piece should begin to look wavy:

And like this after another row.

From now on it will be enough, stitching 1 time and then 2 times per stitch.

Crochet like this another two rows.

Now you should have 6 or 7 rows and conspicuosly waves.

Those waves are important, they will make the typically pumpkin shape later.

If you now would sew up the whole thing, you would have a cute skirt for your doll.

But we go on with crochet....

From now on we will go smaller again.

This means, from now on you leave one loop out between each stitch, like shown above.

the first stitch should then look like this.

Go on like this, and you will see that the skirt now will get narrow very quickly.

When you are back to the size of 16 or 18 loops, you should have a kind of balloon skirt.

It should look like this.

now it is important to proove, if the skirt still fits over the hip of your doll, as shown above.  

If not, open some of the last stitches up carefully. If you think its not narrow enough for the dolljust crochet some more stitches until it fits.

If you just want to have a skirt its time to sew up the thing.

If not, go on with crochet.

From now on it is important to prove from time to time if the dress still fits over your dolls hips. Of course you don't want the dress beeing to small or too big, don't you?

Now you go on making single crochet stitches, row on row, stitching once in each loop, as in row 1, until you have something that looks like a bottle.

If the dress is too big leave out one loop per row at the back, until it fits to your doll and you are still able to push it over her hips. if it fits, just go on with single stitching.

If you like the top of the dress in a different colour, go on with the new yarn when the skirt part has ended. Then it is important that you choose a yarn that is the same size as the one you used before.

When you finished the bottle neck part, try it on again. the skirt part should begin  at the hips and end up at the middle of the femoral of your doll.

The top is long enough if it ends under the armpits of your doll.

For the last row you now do 3 single stitches.

Then, for the first strap, you do 3 or 4 chain loops.

then you leave out 3 or 4 loops of the row under and go on with single stitches.

You need like 4 or 5 in the front. Try it out on the doll. 

Now again crochet 3 - 4 chain loops, for the second strap.

And then do again some single stitches, as after the first strap.

Do this until you finished the row.

You are finish now with chrochet work and you can sew up with a wool needle.

Please don't be daunted if it doesn't work out as good as you wanted by first try or if you have to open the one or other stitch again until the dress fits.

My crochet dresses are always a "try and error" - they often don't work out as I want them to look like, but I try out crochet until I have what I want myself.

But usually the MH dresses are a quick thing to crochet, even beginners shouldn't need more then a few hours on one.

Sorry that I cannot give a more detailed tutorial, its more important that you understand how it basically works.

Also, the result always depends on which hooks and yarns you choose.

But I am sure you get a feel on how it works very quickly.

With this method, you should also be able to crochet dresses for dolls in any other size, perhaps for yourself.

Your dress should now look like this. 

The typically pumpkin form you should have got with doing the waves.

Now you cut out a pumpkin face from black felt in the shape you like.

Careful: 

The mouth should be bigger then you imagine the result because parts of it will hide in the folds of the skirt.

Now you just need to sew on the face at the front of your skirt and you are finished.

Best is to fix the face parts with some needles before so you are sure that it is where you want it to be: at the front of your dolls skirt.

Another opinion is to embroider the face instead of make a felt one.

Here you see the result once again.

The hair accessoire is made of a pipe cleaner. The nice pumpkin earrings I found at Tedi, Germany but iam sure you will find some cute ones in any shop that sells Halloween costumes.

Halloween-Kürbiskleid Anleitung (deutsch)

Hallo liebe Blogmonster,

Hier ist wieder eure Clawdeen. 

Und ich habe etwas Schönes für euch:

Mein Neuestes Halloween-Kürbiskleid. 

Na, mögt ihr es?

Ich hoffe es... und als kleines Halloween-Special möchte ich euch zeigen, wie ihr es selbst machen könnt.

Seid nicht böse, wenn es nicht auf Anhieb klappt. 

Das ist mein erster Versuch eines Tutorials.

Ihr müsst nicht viel dafür können, Grundbegriffe im Häkeln und Nähen reichen völlig aus.

Calaminthe zeigt euch, wie es geht.

Und jetzt geht es los:

Ihr braucht: 

- oranges Häkelgarn. Calaminthe benutzt dafür preiswertes Acrylgarn in der Stärke für Häkelnadel 4 oder dünner. 

- Häkelnadel Stärke 3,5 oder 4

- Bastelfilz in schwarz

- schwarzes Nähgarn

- Nähnadel, Wollnadel zum Vernähen und eine Schere zum Schneiden der Garne und des Filzes

Was ihr können müsst:

- Luftmaschen häkeln

- einfache, feste Maschen häkeln

- vernähen

Zuerst häkelt ihr eine Reihe Luftmaschen, so ca. 16 bis 20. 

Ihr habt genug, wenn die Ludtmaschen wie auf dem Foto gezeigt um die Hüfte eurer Puppe passen.

Wenn ihr wisst, wie viele Luftmaschen ihr braucht, stecht ihr einfach wieder in die erste ein und zieht diese durch die letzte, so dass ein Ring entsteht.

Das sieht dann so aus.

Jetzt könnt ihr beginnen, die erste Reihe feste Maschen zu häkeln.

So sollte das Ergebnis dann aussehen.

Ab jetzt stecht ihr in jede Masche 2 mal ein und häkelt so 2 feste Maschen pro Loch.

Übrigens steche ich nur in den hinteren Teil der Masche ein, dann wird das Kleid elastischer.

Hier die erste Doppelmasche.

So sieht es dann nach der zweiten Reihe aus.

Jetzt fahrt ihr so fort, immer 2 x je Masche einstechen. 

Nach einer weiteren Reihe beginnt es sich, zu wellen und sieht es dann so aus:

Und nach einer weiteren sollte es so aussehen.

Jetzt reicht es, wenn ihr abwechselnd je 1 mal und dann wieder 2 x pro Masche einstecht.

Häkelt so weitere 2 Reihen.

Jetzt solltet ihr ca. 6 bis 7 Reihen haben und deutliche Kräuselungen.

Die Kräuselungen sind wichtig, sie ergeben später die typische Kürbisform.

Wenn ihr das ganze jetzt vernäht, hättet ihr einen hübschen, bauschigen Rock für eure Puppen.

Aber wir häkeln weiter....

Ab jetzt werden Maschen abgenommen.

Das bedeutet, ab jetzt stecht ihr nur noch in jede zweite Masche einmal ein.

Die erste Masche sieht dann so aus.

Das macht ihr dann eine ganze Weile, und ihr werdet sehen, dass der Rock nun ganz schnell enger wird.

Wenn ihr dann wieder auf "Anfangsgröße" (ca. 16 Maschen) seid, habt ihr einen Ballonrock.

Der sollte dann, von oben und unten, etwa so aussehen.

Jetzt ist es wichtig, zu prüfen, ob der Rock sich noch knapp über die Hüfte eurer Puppe ziehen lässt, wie hier.  

Falls nicht, zieht vorsichtig ein paar Maschen wieder auf. Falls er euch zu weit wirkt, häkelt einfach noch ein paar Maschen zusätzlich.

Wenn ihr es bei einem Rock lassen wollt, könnt ihr das Ganze jetzt vernähen.

Ab jetzt wird es wichtig, immer wieder mal zu prüfen, ob das Kleid eurer Puppe noch über die Hüften passt. Sonst bekommt ihr es anschließend nicht mehr angezogen, und dann wäre die ganze Arbeit umsonst.

Ihr fahrt jetzt ganz einfach fort, indem ihr einfache weitere feste Maschen hinzufügt, Reihe um Reihe.

Sollte das Kleid zu weit sein, einfach je Reihe hinten nochmal eine einzige Masche auslassen, bis es der Puppe richtig passt und sich noch hochziehen lässt. Ansonsten einfach einmal pro Masche einstechen und so lange fortfahren, bis das Kleid schließlich eine Flaschenform hat, wie oben gezeigt.

Wenn ihr das Oberteil lieber in einer anderen Farbe hättet, schneidet den orangen Faden oberhalb des Rockteils vorsichtig ab (nicht zu knapp, so dass er noch vernäht werden kann) und fahrt in der neuen Farbe fort. Wichtig ist, dass ihr dann Garn in der gleichen Stärke wie das erste nehmt.

Probiert es jetzt noch einmal an. Der Rock sollte in etwa in Taillien-oder Hüfthöhe beginnen und Mitte des Oberschenkels enden. Der obere Teil ist lang genug, wenn er bis unter die Achseln eurer Puppe reicht.

Für die letzte Reihe häkelt ihr nun etwa 3 feste Maschen.

Und dann für den ersten Träger 3 - 4 Luftmaschen.

Dann lasst ihr einfach darunter auch ca. 2 - 3 Maschen aus und stecht dann wieder ein.

Dann weitere 4 feste Maschen häkeln für das Vorderteil.

Jetzt wieder 3 - 4 Luftmaschen häkeln, für den 2ten Träger.

Und dann wieder ein paar Maschen darunter auslassen, wie beim ersten Träger.

Zum Schluss wieder ein paar feste Maschen, bis ihr wieder hinten seid.

Jetzt seid ihr mit dem Häkeln fertig, und ihr könnt mit einer Wollnadel vernähen.

Lasst euch nicht entmutigen, wenn ihr ab und zu die eine oder andere Masche wieder aufziehen müsst.

Auch bei mir sind alle Häkelkleider immer wieder "try and error" - also ein stetiges Ausprobieren, ob alle so hinhaut, wie ich es mir vorstelle, aufziehen, wieder weitermachen.

An und für sich sind die Kleidchen aber recht schnell gehäkelt, mehr als ein paar Stunden müssen auch Anfänger nicht dafür rechnen.

Ich kann euch keine genauere Anleitung geben, da das Prinzip zählt. 

Es kommt immer darauf an, welche Garne und welche Nadelstärken ihr benutzt.

Aber ihr bekommt schnell ein Gefühl dafür.

Nach dieser Methode könnt ihr dann auch recht schnell Kleider für Puppen in anderen Größen häkeln.

Eurer Kleid sollte jetzt jedenfalls so aussehen. 

Die Kürbisform des Rockes ist durch die Kräuselungen entstanden.

Das Oberteil könnt ihr, wenn ihr mögt, auch in einer anderen Farbe häkeln, zum Beispiel in grün oder schwarz. Dann setzt ihr, wie schon zwischendurch erwähnt, über dem Rockteil einfach die neue Farbe an und häkelt den "Flaschenhals" wie beschrieben weiter.

Jetzt schneidet ihr ein Gesicht aus dem schwarzen Bastelfilz aus, je nach Geschmack.

Achtung: 

Der Kürbismund sollte breiter sein, als ihr ihn euch vorstellt, weil er in den Rockfalten zum Teil verschwinden wird.

Nun müsst ihr nur noch das Gesicht vorne auf den Rock nähen, die Fäden auf der Rückseite versäubern, fertig!

Am besten steckt ihr das Gesicht vorher mit Stecknadeln etwas fest, damit es auch dort sitzt, wo ihr es haben wollt: Vorne mitten auf dem Rock.

Hier noch einmal das Ergebnis.

Der Haarschmuck wurde übrigens aus einem Bastel-Pfeifenreiniger (Tedi) gebogen. Die hübschen Kürbisohrringe stammen ebenfalls aus Tedi.
