Garden Ghouls Toralei Stripe Review

Hello Blogmonsters,

Clawdeen Wolf here, its time for the weekly blogspot.

And look who changed her look:

Toralei Stripe now has her reboot version too.
Well no - the shirt she is wearing here is not part of it, its the fall outfit I finished for her last year.

Here is Toraleis complete review:

GARDEN GHOULS TORALEI

THIS is how Garden Ghoul Toralei looks when you find her in her box.

Its the usual reboot plastic box with cardbord background, but this time it has a fresh design with scullette flowers in green, orange and black at the front, Toraleis name and of course the Monster High Logo.

This picture shows the boxes back, its also similar to other MH boxes, mainly black with white descriptions.

There isn't an artwork of the doll in the box, but you will find a picture of the other dolls avalable in this doll line.

Here is a close-up of that photo.

Next to Totalei you also can buy a Cleo and a Twyla, three smaller fairy monsters and, in the middle, Treesa Thornwillow who is much bigger then the average monster and has some function.

Calaminthe decided that Toralei is the only doll of the Garden Ghouls that will come into our home, so watch out for reviews of the other dolls elsewhere, YouTube is always a good adress for doll reviews.

At the bottom of the backside you also will find two small graphics that describe how to pull on or off the wings of the doll.

Usually these pics also show how to pull out the arm and hand joints of the fully articulated dolls.
It seems though Mattel gave this up - you can NOT pull out Toraleis hands or ellbows, please don't try it out, your doll could be damaged.

Opening up the box you will find Toralei pinned on a nice background showing an (un)natural landscape with branches, farn, hills and so on in black green and white colours.

The scenery is framed in the usual coffin shaped border, this time in yellow.

Again, Toralei doesn't come with acessories like a doll stand, brush or diary.

here she is, free of all the pegs and rubber bands that hold her on the background.

As always, the daughter of werecats has an orange skin with brown stripes on legs, arms and face, green cat eyes, cat ears on top of her head and a long thin cat tail.

Also this time she has a pair of bootiful black and orange butterfly wings which, wide open, have a tiger face pattern.

Here is a picture of Toraleis back with just one wing.

As you can see, you can (carefully, please!) pull them out of their holes.

They are single wings with joints so you can also open and close them,.

The tail can be pulled out also.

This makes it easier to dress your doll.

Also, I wanted you to see that the back of Toraleis dress is completely black.

Here are Toraleis wings, pulled out of her back. They are painted from the front side, but they are a bit translucent so you can see the pattern from the back as well.

Also, the back has a relief that follows the pattern, this way they look nice from both sides.

Here you also can see the joints of the wings which means they can be opened and closed when connected to the doll.

Garden Ghouls Toralei has long, mainly orange hair with bangs. It is cut layered at the back and on one side, Tori has a turquise, crimped streak and bangs part.

The orange is much brighter as on older dolls, I totally like the new colour.

Here you have a close-up at Toraleis face - not the only one in this review.

There are some differences again to old Toralei, I'll show you later.

Toralei is wearing turquise eyeshadow and some playful dots of the same colour under her eyes and light red lipstick.

On her head, she is wearing cute grey shades with facette eyes and antennaes, in the middle you can see an insects head.

Here they are, pulled town onto her eyes.

You see, they look cute, also have something like stings over the eye part and the antennaes are a little bit different, one up and one a bit more down.

Here is the clawsome neckholder-dress Toralei comes with.

It is mainly black with a pattern of yellow and turquise butterflies and some cat scratchmarks.

The top is black mesh and closed at the back of her neck with velcro.

The dress is a bit asymetric and has two ruffled layers at the bottom:
One in Toraleis favourite colour red and under it a second one, black mesh again.

Even though the back material is plain black satin, I really love the dress.
Also, Toralei has long hair and a huge pair of wings, and more pattern on the back is totally unnecessary this time.

Here are Toraleis high heel sandals.

At the front they look like an insect without wings, the ankles and the soles have some studs which are so typically for Tori and the heels are fishbones which also fits to Toraleis usually clothing themes.

The colour is a bright orange.

Here is a picture of everything Garden Ghoul Toralei comes with.

The dress can stand alone. 😉

Now I want to show you the differences between classic Toraleis body and the body of her reboot version.

The old one is on the left.

Mainly both bodies are standard monster high bodies, but of course with a cat tail this time and some stripews on one leg and on the opposite arm.

The new body is wider and has less hollow beg.

I hope its okay not to show it from the side or back again, both dolls though have holes for the tail and Garden Ghouls Toralei has two more for the wings.

You can pull out classic Toraleis ellbows and hands as well as the tail, but as I told you before, on the new doll you can only disconnect the wings and the tail.

This way you can not loose hands or arm parts, thats the good news.

There are differences at Toraleis stripes on the leg.

While the classic doll has five on her upper leg and three on the lower, new Tori only has four stripes at the lower legs.

For me personally again this doesn't matter much because most of the time the doll is dressed and you will not see too much of the upper leg.

Now to the faces, and here you can see differences between classic (in this case Field Trip) and reboot Toralei doll as well, differences which make her look cuter for me.

The first thing catching your eye may be the nose:

Now Toralei has a cat nose! It is reddish brown.

Also, Toraleis eyes are a teeny tiny little itsy bit bigger then they had been before, and now they have lashes on the upper eye as well.

This is all, you see, no biggie.

****
