German Carnival and Valentines Day

Arrrr! Blogmonsters - or maybe Helau?

Helau is what many germans are calling out on Carneval. Some say Alaaf. Some... something different. It depends on the region.

Yes, its carnival here this weekend, and I decided to dress myself as pirate this year.

I also finished a new costume for one of the ghouls, of course.
That is one of the things I want to show you.

But there is more.

Because on Wednesday, its also Valentines day, and this is why I also made another Valentines Fashion for one of the ghouls.

Plus: Calaminthe found the coolest doll furniture with double funktion and also ordered a dress for one of us on amazon.

Wanna see?

Okay then, lets start.

Carneval first.

I made a Funkenmariechen-costume for Operetta.

I want to try to translate or explain what a Funkenmariechen is.

She is a dancing girl in rhenish carnival.
There are many dancing guards in german carnival.

No ball, no street carnival without those.

Either there is a guard with mainly men wearing municipal gard costumes, like the Rote Funken in Cologne, which usually have one Funkenmariechen dancing girl, or you find female dancing guards, like on this YouTube-Video of the Funkengarde des AKV - Vallis comitis.

Every guard (and usually every single village and town celebrating carnival has one) has their own uniforms.

They are all different, but most of them look very much alike the one I made for Operetta.

Operetta is wearing the typical treecorne hat. Hers had been made with Fimo and a little bit glued on white faux fur. She is wearing it on her hair, styled in two beaded pigtails that are typical for Funkenmariechen.

Also she has a red jacket and matching white skirt, both with silver borders, and the jacket closed with cramps.

Under this she has a white top with white lace jabot.

Um... well, its not so easy to find a transition for the next theme now, which is valentine.

Maybe this way:

Calaminthe found a clawsome new furniture last week at  kik. It is this chaiselongue.
The colour is old rose, and it is upholstered with velvet.

The chaiselongue has two cushions that are fixed at the corner and has silver coloured feet.

And it has a double function. You can open it up and you will find a little jewellery box inside to store some of your treasures. There is even a mirror!

I don't find it on their website but you may still get it at your local kik, if you have one. There had been also a matching armchair, but Calaminthe brought home just the chaiselongue.

Look how perfect it is to pose your ghouls on it!

In this case it is Catrine deMew, and yes, she is posing in her brand boo valentines dress!

The dress was made of a pink and white vichy-checkered fabric, has a sewed on iridescent heart and white lace border.

The little accessorie highlight I created for Catrine is the fascinator with glued-on shimmering white plastic dove.

Catrine told me this dress has everything that matches Scaris. The french checkered pattern, the lace, the heart symbolizing love and the dove. I guess this means she really likes it.

Iris also has a new dress.

But hers isn't self made.

Calaminthe found it on amazon, you can find it by clicking the amazon link.

Silvi Timberwolf had been the first one trying it out, but after seeing that it fits the classic MH dolls better then the rebooted ones, she gave it to Iris.
And she really rocks the dress.

The dress is made from a stiff satin material, white with a floral pattern in pink and black.
There is black ribbon crossing the top, and it can be knotted at the neck of the doll.
There is a cute black lace border at the bottom of the skirt.

The dress fits the old dolls quite niceley. It came from China, but had been here very quickly.

The dress closes at the back with velcro, but though the velcro is sewed on properly I wish they would have used two seams for this instead of just one, then it would fit more perfectly. Also the satin material is fringing a little bit on the inside. But this is nothing that can't be fixed with a few stitches.

The stiffiness of the fabric maybe should carefully ironed over at low temperature, then the dress is really cute and nice.

And it was worth its price. Calaminthe just payed 3,19 € for it.

Maybe she will try it again and order another one.

Well, and for today we are at the end of the blogspot.

Have a fangtastic weekend!

For the Germans: Helau! Alaaf!

For everybody:
Have a nice Valentines day too and a clawsome rest of the week!

Bye for today,

💜💚💜

Clawdeen Wolf
